Varese, land of events

From Saturday 4 December to Sunday 9 January 2022 | Laveno Mombello, Varese

CHRISTMAS IN LAVENO MOMBELLO

Throughout the Christmas period it will be possible to admire the Submerged Nativity, now in its 42nd edition. The laying of the statues is scheduled for Saturday 20 November by the Friends of the Nativity Scene of Laveno Mombello. On weekends, music, events and chocolate in the square will welcome visitors and accompany them throughout the festive period.

This year Laveno Mombello will be the seat of the creative and evocative installations, created thanks to over 500,000 LED lights, with the involvement of Lino Betti, the creator of the "Lucine di Leggiuno", an appointment in the area for many years.

The Lucine initiative has distant roots. Born from an idea of Lino Betti, before arriving in Laveno, the Lucine had illuminated Leggiuno and made it the heart of Christmas thanks to its eclectic installations. Betti has always said he bought the first lights in a city in Brazil, his wife's country of origin. It was the year 1999 and since that day, every year, the collection has been enriched to the point of reaching 500,000 LEDs.

The "Christmas lights" will light up on 4 December 2021 and will remain visible during all Christmas holidays in the Gaggetto Park until 9 January 2022, offering inhabitants and tourists an unrepeatable show.

The Lights in Laveno will remain on every day until Sunday 9 January 2022 (with the exception of two days of closure scheduled for 24 and 31 December), from Sunday to Thursday from 17:30 to 23:00, while on Friday and on Saturdays until midnight.

There will also be the Ferris wheel and the typical Christmas houses. It will be possible to sip hot chocolate or the typical mulled wine in classic disposable glasses or in personalized ceramic cups with a Christmas graphic entirely dedicated to Christmas lights. Even the most cold will feel warm!

There will also be a large ice rink just a few steps from the Christmas Lights; the attraction is perfect for the whole family and will give emotions throughout the winter: from 20 November until the end of January. Not to be missed, the calendar with the different Christmas fairy tales told by readers and accompanied by the wonderful ballets of professional ice skaters. The mask must be worn outdoors in all situations where interpersonal distancing cannot be guaranteed or where gatherings or crowds are possible.
Access to festivals and fairs, including local ones, is only allowed to subjects with a Covid-19 green certification. The obligation to possess a Covid-19 green certification to access the shows open to the public refers to places that allow, due to their conformation, to limit the entry of spectators (theatrical halls, concert halls, cinemas, entertainment venues and live music and other venues or spaces, even outdoors). The obligation to possess a Covid-19 green certification does not apply, however, in the event that the events take place in outdoor places without specific and unique access gates, such as in public squares, streets or parks, which can also be accessed by individuals for purposes other than to attend the event which is therefore not intended for a predefined audience and contained in spaces exclusively dedicated to the event itself.
