From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Varese will host the European Rowing Championships, one of the most prestigious events on the international rowing calendar. More than 500 athletes from over 30 nations will compete on the waters of Schiranna in the Senior, Lightweight, and Pararowing categories.
The event once again confirms Varese and Italy as leading destinations for European rowing, with four days of competition that will crown the continent’s champions.
Alongside the competitions, a series of initiatives has been planned to engage the entire city.
Among the main highlights is the Rowing Village in Piazza Monte Grappa, where a giant screen will once again be installed to broadcast the races live, along with an area dedicated to rowing ergometers, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to experience rowing firsthand.
The Schiranna Fan Zone will also be expanded, featuring a stage for live race broadcasts and musical entertainment after the competitions, helping to turn the event into a true celebration of sport.
Great attention will also be given to sustainability, thanks to a collaboration with Acinque, which will provide special bicycles capable of generating energy and charging batteries through pedaling.
Also important sports organizations from the area will be involved, including Pallacanestro Varese, Hockey Club Varese, the Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, and Eco Run, all contributing to the promotion of the event.
Varese is therefore preparing to host days of major international sport, bringing together competition, public engagement, tourism, and the enhancement of the local territory.
Further information about the event program will follow.
