A pleasant trail through the green hills of the Varese area, offering stunning views of Lake Maggiore, stretching from the narrow section near Sesto Calende all the way to the Verbania basin and the enchanting Borromean Islands.

The route winds through peaceful landscapes and small villages, following country roads, unpaved paths and scenic viewpoints. Passing through Cheglio, Capronno and Montecalvo, the trail joins the picturesque Sentiero del Verbano, where nature and panoramic views accompany the walk.

The itinerary winds along the lake shore from Cerro di Laveno to Monvalle. It is well-marked with the code VVL-C1 on red and white panels. After skirting the Church of San Defendente, cross the provincial route no. 69 that connects Laveno Mombello to Angera and proceed toward Reno. Cross back over the provincial route to reach the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso .
