From Alpe San Michele to Monte Pian della Nave

A simple and accessible route for the whole family, perfect for a nice short trip with a panoramic views.

The route starts from Alpe San Michele, reachable by car from Brissago Valtravaglia or with about 40 minutes on foot starting from Ligurno, a district of Portovaltravaglia via the "Sentee di Sass" or the "Sentiero Gogna". Alpe San Michele is also known as the "town of nativity scenes" for the images of the Nativity that decorate the village up to the millenary church with frescos dedicated to the Archangel San Michele.

Forcora - Monterecchio - Monte Paglione

Located at the northernmost tip of the Province of Varese, Passo Forcora is the starting point for one of the most scenic hikes in the Val Veddasca area. Easily reachable in about 50 minutes from Varese and 20 minutes from Luino, it offers a convenient free parking area where the trail begins.

Curiglia - Alpone

The walk begins in Curiglia, in Val Veddasca, where free parking is available in the village. From here, the route immediately leads into the quiet pedestrian streets, following the red-and-white trail markers that guide hikers along the path. After about half an hour of uphill walking on an asphalt road, you reach Sarona.

Before continuing, it’s worth taking a moment to pause: the view over Val Veddasca and the villages on the opposite slope, with a glimpse of Lake Maggiore, is truly striking.
