Forcora - Monterecchio - Monte Paglione

Passo Forcora, located in the municipality of Veddasca, is situated in the north of the province of Varese, 50 minutes from the city of Varese and 20 minutes from Luino.

The route starts from the pass itself, where you can leave the car in a large free parking lot. Pass by the small church on the pass and take the path following a wooden sign a comfortable carriage road to Monterecchio. From here the route goes up to the Veddasca Valley.

Curiglia - Alpone

The walk begins in Curiglia, in Val Veddasca, where free parking is available in the village. From here, the route immediately leads into the quiet pedestrian streets, following the red-and-white trail markers that guide hikers along the path. After about half an hour of uphill walking on an asphalt road, you reach Sarona.

Before continuing, it’s worth taking a moment to pause: the view over Val Veddasca and the villages on the opposite slope, with a glimpse of Lake Maggiore, is truly striking.

Monte Sasso del Ferro

Rising behind the town of Laveno Mombello, the Sasso del Ferro (1,062 m) is one of the most scenic destinations in the Varese Prealps. It can be easily reached by cable car from the center of Laveno, arriving at Poggio Sant’Elsa in just a few minutes, or on foot via a pleasant hike starting from Cittiglio.
