The itinerary offers a beautiful view on the lake, from Sesto Calende to Verbania and the Borromean Islands. Start from the Parco comunale di Taino and go toward Cheglio. Take the unpaved track through the forest to reach Capronno and then cross Montecalvo. Turn left and follow Sentiero del Verbano. The road climbs steeply, becomes an unpaved track and descends to the Cheglio settlement. 

MUST SEE:

The itinerary winds along the lake shore from Cerro di Laveno to Monvalle. It is well-marked with the code VVL-C1 on red and white panels. After skirting the Church of San Defendente, cross the provincial route no. 69 that connects Laveno Mombello to Angera and proceed toward Reno. Cross back over the provincial route to reach the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso .
