A scenic and captivating loop trail, perfect for discovering history, nature, and stunning lakeside views.
The Sentiero delle Fornaci di Ispra is part of the “Green Ways of the Lakes” and follows a route rich in historical traces linked to the area’s traditional lime kilns.
The hike begins in Ispra, where you can park near the tourist office, just a few steps from Lago Maggiore. Here you join trail VVL-L1, which guides the entire itinerary with clear signage.
With the lake behind you, head left along the charming Passeggiata dell'Amore, a unique stretch right by the water, featuring rocks, walkways, and small bridges, passing a quaint old boathouse.
After about one kilometer, the trail leaves the lakeshore and heads inland through villas and woodland. A short climb leads to the Fornace in Salvalada, from where a paved road descends to the Fornace del Pinett, known for its distinctive walkway and small harbor.
The route continues along the lake to the Fornace della Punta, before climbing through the woods toward the residential area of Ispra 70. From here, the trail descends back toward the town center, passing along quiet, scenic streets where more historic kilns can be seen.
The loop ends back in the historic center of Ispra, descending once more to the lake via a charming cobbled path behind the Chiesa di San Martino, completing a truly memorable experience.
