A short yet captivating hike where history and nature come together overlooking the lake.

The remains of the ancient Valtravaglia fortress can be found in the charming village of Caldè, a small lakeside hamlet overlooking Lago Maggiore.

This easy and scenic route, suitable for everyone, starts in Castelveccana, from the hamlet of Castello, and leads to the striking Rocca di Caldè, offering stunning views over the lake.

From the village, follow Via Mazzini and the signs to the Rocca: at the first junction, keep right and continue toward the quiet hamlet of San Pietro. From here, Via Capitano Barassi leads up to the summit, where the view opens wide and breathtaking.

For a more varied experience, you can also reach the Rocca via an alternative path passing through the Fornaci di Caldè and the small church of Chiesa di Santa Veronica, adding a touch of history and charm to the walk.
