From Pradecolo to Monte Lema

Distance: 9.5 km • Time: 3 hours and a half • Medium difficulty

A journey between sky and water, where your gaze drifts across shimmering lakes and Alpine peaks: this itinerary, on the border between Italy and Switzerland, is an experience that stays with you.

Starting from Luino, the route gently climbs toward Dumenza, reaching Rifugio Campiglio, nestled in the tranquility of Alpe Pradecolo. Here, time seems to slow down, and nature invites you to continue along a path that winds through an enchanting beech forest, leading to Piano Runo.

Step by step, the landscape opens up to unforgettable views: the deep blue of Lake Maggiore, the evocative Castles of Cannero rising from the water, and in the distance, the majestic silhouette of Monte Rosa.

The ascent culminates at the summit of Monte Lema, where the scenery reaches its peak: a breathtaking 360-degree panorama embracing Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano, framed by the magnificent Pennine and Lepontine Alps. A place to pause, breathe, and be amazed.

The return becomes part of the experience itself: a circular route through woods and open clearings, passing Alpe Forcola d’Arasio and the charming little church of Madonna della Guardia—another exceptional panoramic spot. From here, a pleasant walk leads back to Pradecolo.
