The route starts from Curiglia in Val Veddasca, where you can leave your car in several free parking lots in the town. Immediately you enter the pedestrian streets marked by white and red stamps and in half an hour, following the paved road, you go up to Sarona. Before starting the climb make a stop to admire the magnificent panorama with the villages on the opposite side of the Veddasca Valley and a part of Lake Maggiore; then follow the signs indicating the path to Alpone. It takes thirty minutes walking to get to the mountain pasture, and a few more minutes to reach the viewpoint where you find picnic tables and the little church of the Madonna della Guardia.
