The Sacro Monte of Varese is part of the 9 UNESCO World Heritage Sacred Mountains in Lombardy and Piedmont.

A walk uphill or downhill along the Avenue of the Chapels: a 2-kilometer route featuring 14 chapels dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary, built between 1604 and 1698 as a means of evangelization in response to the Protestant Reformation and as a path of devotion leading to the Shrine.
In the past, pilgrims from all over the world walked this path, but the view is breathtaking even for those not on a pilgrimage. The chapels are, in fact, situated on the mountain ridge, offering a sweeping view of the landscape below, including lakes, hills, and the Po Valley.

The highlight is the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte, which houses the Coronation of the Madonna as the 15th Mystery of the Rosary, and the Romanesque Crypt.

In addition to the picturesque village, the Baroffio Museum and the Ludovico Pogliaghi House Museum can also be visited at Sacro Monte.
