From October 4, 2025 to December 31, 2026. | Museo Etno Archeologico Castiglioni, Varese
The Castiglioni Museum is hosting an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to Ancient Egypt: Nefertari, the Immortal Queen. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a 1:1 scale reconstruction of the first lateral annex of Nefertari’s tomb, the Great Royal Wife of Ramses II. This space, known as the Hall of the Seven Sacred Cows, the Bull, and the Four Oars, comes to life through the TattooWall® technique, which faithfully reproduces the original colors, symbolic scenes, and the spectacular starry ceiling—a symbol of rebirth and motherhood.
Visitors will experience an immersive and sensory journey, accompanying Nefertari on her path to the afterlife, where she meets deities such as Ptah, Osiris, Atum, and Thoth. Iconography drawn from the Book of the Dead, including the queen venerating eight sacred cows, conveys themes of eternity, rebirth, and the central role of the queen as a charismatic and powerful figure.
The exhibition is part of the scientific project “Nefertari QV66”, created on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the tomb’s discovery, thanks to collaboration among Egyptologists, scientific institutions, specialized graphic designers, and museum organizations. It represents an exemplary model of philological reconstruction, designed to protect and make accessible an invaluable heritage that is no longer visitable in reality.
