On June 7, 2024, the new edition of the international literary competition "Ceresio in Giallo" was presented at Villa Recalcati, Varese. The initiative, created by Carla De Albertis and Jenny Santi, follows the success of the previous edition, which saw 484 entries and the victory of François Morlupi. This year, the competition introduces the section "Il Giallo per tutti," featuring LIA-certified accessible ebooks, enabling visually impaired and blind individuals to enjoy reading.
The competition, dedicated to the genres of mystery, thriller, noir, and detective fiction, is organized by the Circolo degli Artisti di Varese with the sponsorship and collaboration of various institutions. The main sections are: published novels, unpublished stories set in lake locations, Gialli nel cassetto, Giallo Junior, the literary-photographic section "Il Giallo in una frase," and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Prizes for young authors and the Youth Jury are also confirmed.
The deadline for submitting works is October 14, 2024, for novels and stories, and March 31, 2025, for the literary-photographic section. The juries, composed of industry experts including representatives from the Accademia della Crusca, journalists, editors, and professors, will evaluate the works.
Winners will receive cash prizes and publication opportunities, with specific awards for various categories, including young authors and stories set in lake areas of Insubria. For more details and applications, visit the official websites of the competition and the involved partners.
