Musica in Villa

The 47th edition of "Musica in Villa", dedicated to the memory of Massimo Pella, will take place in the 18th-century villa of the noble Guido Cagnola in Gazzada Schianno, in the province of Varese. The event, starting on June 7, includes 13 concerts and two extra events. Organized by the Pro Loco, Villa Cagnola, and the municipality of Gazzada Schianno, with the support of private sponsors, the festival offers a wide variety of musical genres.



CONCERT PROGRAM

  • Friday, June 7: Opening with "La malìa del folklore," Ensemble900 conducted by Francesco Bossaglia, performing works by Carlo Ciceri and Luciano Berio.
  • Friday, June 14: Brass ensemble "Brassband96" conducted by Gianmario Bonino, with music by Rossini, Elgar, and Holst.
  • Saturday, June 22: Songs of the 20th century with French crooner Jean-Jacques De Launay, accompanied by Giovanni Baglioni on saxophone and Nicola Delle Luche as solo violinist, conducted by Alessandro Bartolozzi.
  • Saturday, June 29: Violinist Giuliano Carmignola, accompanied by I Cameristi del Verbano, with a program entirely dedicated to Mozart.
  • Sunday, July 7: Le Voci di Genova, featuring Serena Spedicato, Vince Abbracciante, Nando Di Modugno, Giorgio Vendola, and Osvaldo Pilego, with a tribute to Genoese singer-songwriters.
  • Saturday, July 13: "Virtuosi italiani" conducted by Pietro Borgonovo, performing Mahler's First Symphony "The Titan."
  • Wednesday, July 17: Orchestra dei “Pomeriggi Musicali,” conducted by Nicolò Jacopo Suppa, performing Beethoven's Fourth Symphony.
  • Saturday, July 20: "A journey through cinema," with pianist Marco Cadario, soprano Antonella Romanazzi, and the "Antonio Vivaldi" Orchestra of Sondrio, conducted by Ernesto Colombo, performing music by Rota, Morricone, and Williams.
  • Friday, July 26: Donizetti's opera "Rita," performed by the Ticino Musica instrumental ensemble conducted by Umberto Finazzi, with actor Massimiliano Zampetti and directed by Daniele Piscopo.
  • Sunday, July 28: Quintetto Bislacco with a program ranging from Mozart to the Cugini di Campagna, including Bach, Beethoven, Strauss, and Charlie Parker.
  • Friday, August 2: Concert by the Guardia di Finanza band, conducted by Colonel Leonardo Laserra Ingrosso (free admission).
  • Sunday, August 4: Concert by violinist Simon Zhu, with the Bottesini Orchestra of Crema conducted by Enrico Fagone, paying tribute to Ezio Bosso with the Concerto No. 1 for violin and orchestra "EsoConcerto."
  • Sunday, August 11: Concert by the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana conducted by Holly Hyun Choe, featuring trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary, performing works by Hummel, Oscher, and Bizet's rarely performed Symphony No. 1.

EXTRA EVENTS

  • Wednesday, June 12: Concert by the Orchestra and Choir of the "Riccardo Malipiero" Musical High School of Varese, conducted by Carlo De Martini and Gabriele Conti, with works by Bach, Handel, Haydn, and Pärt.
  • Sunday, September 29: 28th Band Festival, featuring the “Giuseppe Garibaldi” musical groups from San Fermo della Battaglia, Brenno Useria, and the “Giuseppe Verdi” band from Capolago.

TICKET INFORMATION AND SERVICES

  • The ticket price for individual concerts is 15 euros (10 euros reduced).
  • The concerts will be held under the portico of the villa, known for its excellent acoustics, starting at 9 PM.
  • A bar is available at Villa Cagnola during concert evenings starting at 6 PM.
  • Until September 30, 2023, concertgoers can receive a 10% discount on stays at participating hotels and on menus at affiliated restaurants by presenting their concert ticket and program booklet.
