Varese, in the winter season, offers a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy wonderful views and enchanted landscapes. Sports for the most athletic, but also fun proposals for those who do not want to struggle.
On the top of the Varesine pre-Alps, at the Forcora pass (1179 m) not far from the Swiss border, we find a ski slope served by a ski lift of about 1 km, and itineraries that can be traveled with snowshoes. The pass offers a beautiful view of Lake Maggiore, Monte Rosa and Gottardo. It is possible to stop for a break at the Forcora hut.
Not far away, at Campo dei Fiori, however, you can venture to Brinzio where you can practice cross-country skiing on its track which is divided into two rings suitable for different abilities: a completely flat ring of about 3 km, and one with some short climbs and descents of 5 km. During the white winter snowfalls, this place is perfect the enjoyment of children. Also worth mentioning is the 'Sole e neve' cross-country track in Cunardo, used by many competitive skiers from the surrounding provinces, bringing about 5000 tourists a year. The track with programmed snow-making system and lighting is 2.5 kilometers long, while the rings with FISI approved natural snow cover are 7.5 - 5 - 3 km long.
