An easy woodland trail where nature blends with ancient, almost mystical atmospheres in a landscape full of charm.
The route begins at the sports field of Somma Lombardo, in the hamlet of Coarezza, following the ST/IP trail markers along the Strona. The path soon enters the forest, becoming part of the scenic “Green Ways” network.
Surrounded by Scots pine, oak, and chestnut trees, the trail offers a rich natural environment, with a mix of native and exotic species that enhance its beauty.
Along the way, you reach the Diga di Porto della Torre, operating since 1942 and now also an ENEL hydroelectric plant, where nature and history come together.
Further on, you encounter the Sass di Biss, a striking greenish glacial boulder of geological interest, marked with prehistoric rock carvings.
The trail then leads to a scenic viewpoint at the edge of the Brughiera del Vigano, overlooking the Fiume Ticino, offering wide and peaceful views.
This itinerary is also suitable for mountain biking.
