A route where water and nature meet, blending historic engineering with scenic river landscapes along the Fiume Ticino.
The historic dam of Panperduto, built in the 19th century and also known as the Villoresi Canal, is a key hydraulic hub and the starting point of this enjoyable hike. Here, you can observe an old navigation lock, now disused, offering a glimpse into the past of these waterways.
The route follows the canal intake basin along a paved road, crossing a bridge where another disused lock can be seen. Shortly after, a narrow dirt path branches off, running alongside the water and leading into a more natural setting.
The vegetation becomes increasingly lush, with oak, black locust, poplar, and willow trees surrounding the trail, guiding you to the peaceful Spiaggia del Fogatore, a quiet riverside spot.
From here, the path returns into the forest and leads to the so-called “fishermen’s parking area.” You can then head back to the starting point by following the Sentiero E1, which runs along the towpath, completing a relaxing and scenic itinerary.
This itinerary is also suitable for mountain biking.
