Anello delle Castagne

Distance: 13 km • Time: 3 ore e 30 minuti • Medium difficulty

The “chestnuts ring” is a circular itinerary part of the “Green Paths of the Lakes” and is situated between the towns of Sesto Calende and Taino.

The path starts from San Vincenzo in Sesto Calende, where you can park you car and take the VVL-T1 path called Anello delle Castagne.

The first point of interest on the route is the erratic boulder Sass de Preja Buia in a green area: many locals legends are related to this boulder. The path continues through a quite chestnut forest for a long stretch until you find an asphalt road towards Taino.

Following the signs, you pass near a large ruined structure, the powder keg of Taino in the Campaccio area which was the scene of an explosion during the Great War and closed then in the 70s.. The path proceeds again approaching the lake in the road towards Coquo and Lisanza to end again in San Vincenzo in Sesto Calende.
