For the centenary of the birth of Giancarlo Sangregorio, the Municipality of Taino has joined the project promoted by the Sangregorio Foundation, which includes a series of exhibitions dedicated to the artist. 

In 2025 the centenary of the birth of Giancarlo Sangregorio, one of the most significant Italian sculptors of the twentieth century. To celebrate the anniversary, the Municipality of Taino has joined the project promoted by the Sangregorio Foundation, which provides a series of exhibitions dedicated to the artist, each developed around specific themes to tell the richness and variety of his work.

The exhibition project of Taino, curated by Lorella Giudici and Francesca Marcellini, is entitled "Sangregorio. Stone, wood, places" and focuses on the intimate link between the artist’s works and natural materials, as well as with the places that have inspired their production. The selected works will be exhibited at the Centro dell'Olmo di Taino and will ideally refer to the large sculpture "Ruota di Mola", one of the masterpieces by Sangregorio already placed in the Park of the 4 Cardinal Points.

The events programme:

May 4: opening with the exhibition of wooden works made by children of the Taino Kindergarten, a tribute to creativity that dialogues with the art of the master.
From 4 to 18 May: opening of the exhibition "I LEGNI" by Giandomenico Terzoli, which will enrich the cultural journey through the story of living matter.
18 May, 17:00: Concert of the youth orchestra "Il Sedicesimo", which will pay tribute to the work and the figure of Sangregorio.
At the end of the concert, an aperitif will be offered by the Pro Loco of Taino, to share a moment of celebration with the whole community.

An event of community and culture
The project is realized in collaboration with the Local History Museum of Taino and represents not only a tribute to Sangregorio, but also an opportunity to rediscover the cultural, artistic and landscape value of the territory.

Through the union between art, nature and community, Taino intends to strengthen the link with the heritage of one of its most illustrious citizens, relaunching the universal message of sculpture as a dialogue between materials and places.
