On Sunday 28^th May 2023, a "walk between art and nature from the Monastery of Torba to the Monastery of Cairate" will take place in the vicinity of the Monastery of Torba in Gornate Olona (VA) in two shifts at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. 

The walk of about 5 km will last 3 hours and will start from the Monastery of Torba and continue in the green heart of the Olona Valley. You will walk along a stretch of the Via Francisca del Lucomagno, an ancient Roman route travelled by pilgrims from Germany on their way to Pavia, where they intersected the Via Francigena towards Rome. Once in Cairate, the monastery, one of the first monastic settlements in Lombardy, will be visited. In addition to the cloister and Roman and early medieval finds, the 1561 fresco cycle attributed to Aurelio Luini, son of the great painter Bernardino Luini, will be illustrated. 

The walk is suitable for everyone and includes an independent return to the Monastery of Torba.

• Contribution for entrance to the Monastery of Cairate: €3 per person to be paid on site in cash
