Floats, masks and lots of fun are the main characteristics to celebrate Carnival day in the province of Varese.

CARNIVAL ON TOUR 2024

The Pro Loco Sangiano with the Pro Loco of Cuvio, Cuveglio, Ispra, Laveno and the Besozzo Merchants' Association have joined forces and created 'CARNEVALE IN TOUR 2024'. The creators of allegorical floats and masked groups we are addressing to invite them to participate in the Carnival on Tour 2024 consisting of four dates, registrations are open until Wednesday 3^rd February.

SATURDAY 10^th FEBRAURY

• The great 'Valcuvia Carnival 2024' organised by the pro loco of Cuvio and Cuveglio will take place in Cuvio and Cuveglio. The parade will start from the "Valcuvia Shop" shopping centre in Cuveglio at 2:00 p.m. and arrive at Cuvio Park at 3.30 p.m., where the allegorical parade will take place. At the end of the parade, the Carnival King and Queen will be proclaimed, followed by tortelli, sweets, polenta and Luganega for everyone!

SUNDAY 11^th FEBRAURY

• Ispra: from 2:00 p.m. through the village streets there will be a parade of carnival floats and masked groups. A food stand will also be available.

SATURDAY 17^th FEBRAURY

• The Besozzo Carnival will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Besozzo. There will be many events including a magic show, flag-wavers, the king and queen of the carnival on horses, the parade of schools and masked groups, and much more. Street food will be available during the event.

• The 4^th stage of the "Carnevale in Tour" will arrive in Laveno. A food stand will be available in Piazza Caduti del Lavoro from 12:00 p.m., where one can taste polenta with stew, Zola, Bruscitt and Salamella. The food stand will remain open for the entire day.
  At 1.30 p.m. there will be the parade departure from Mombello of the allegorical floats and masked groups. Throughout the afternoon there will be entertainment for children, music and group dances in Piazza Matteotti. At 5:00 p.m., prizes will be awarded to the floats, groups and the three most beautiful masquerades!

SUNDAY 18^th FEBRAURY

• Sangiano: from 12:00 p.m. the food stand will be open and from 2:00 p.m. there will be a parade of floats and masks.

ARCISATE

• On Saturday 17^th February at 11:00 a.m., the colourful procession of floats will set off from Via della Vittoria in Brenno Useria towards Arcisate. After the presentation of the floats in front of the town hall, they will proceed to Lagozza Park, where they are scheduled to arrive at 12.15pm. There will be many events during the day, including the Carnival Olympics and a meeting with the spooky Addams family.

CASALZUIGNO

• On Sunday 11^th February at the Party Area, the Proloco is organising a Carnival party with lots of surprises and entertainment! Children will be able to enjoy a shower of candy dropped with parachutes by masked and non-masked riders!

CASTIGLIONE OLONA

• Sunday 11^th February at 2:00 p.m. will see the start of Carnival 2024 in Castilgione Olona "A Magic World". There will be a parade through the streets of the village, the arrival is scheduled at the oratory where there will be an award ceremony for the most magical mask followed by a magic show.

In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Saturday 17^th February.

GALLARATE

• On Saturday 17^th February there will be a traveling carnival through the streets of the city, starting at 2:00 p.m. For the little ones there will be entertainment in Piazza della Libertà.

MACCAGNO

• Saturday 17^th February sees the arrival of Carnival in the Square. At 10.30 a.m. there will be a mask workshop. At 12:30 p.m. you can enjoy risotto and luganega. This will be followed by many events and entertainment for children.

In case of bad weather it will be held at the Parco delle Feste.

MALNATE

1. On Sunday 11 February from 2 p.m. onwards, the artistic carnival parade 'Malnate a colori' (Malnate in Colour) will be held, organised in collaboration with the Liceo Artistico 'Frattini' of Varese. There will be several stages, in each of which participants will have to perform the activity proposed by the association present in order to receive a piece of history. Each piece will lead to the last secret stage.

PORTO CERESIO

• Saturday 10^th February will see the 28^th edition of the Children's Carnival, the festival dedicated to the little ones.
• On Sunday 11^th February, the 44^th Carnival of Ceres will take place at 2:00 p.m. As per tradition, the procession will open with the coronation of King Gigio and his queen.

SESTO CALENDE

• Sunday 11^th February sees the arrival of carnival at the museum. The start of the masked parade is scheduled at 1.50 p.m. from Piazzale Card. Dell'Acqua (Abbey). The party will continue on the lawn in front of the Abbey with children's games, sausage sandwiches, chips, candies and the prize for the most beautiful mask.

In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to Saturday 17^th February.

VARESE

• 31^st Carnival Bosino: Saturday 10^th February at 3:00 p.m. there will be the Carnival opening parade, followed by the handing over of the keys of the city from the mayor to King Bosino at Palazzo Estense. Saturday 17^th February there will be a parade of floats and masked groups starting from Via Sacco. At 4.30 p.m. in Piazza Monte Grappa there will be the King Bosino's speech and the awarding of prizes to the floats, groups and golden masks.
