On the occasion of the European Archaeology Days in the Valle Olona, scheduled for June 13 and 14, 2026, the Comune di Castiglione Olona is presenting on Sunday, June 14 the event “An Afternoon Between the Renaissance and Archaeology at Palazzo Branda Castiglioni”, hosted at Palazzo Branda Castiglioni.

Starting at 4:00 PM, visitors will be invited to explore the fifteenth-century rooms of the palace, enriched with frescoes from the Lombard school and works by Tuscan artists such as Masolino da Panicale and Lorenzo di Pietro (il Vecchietta). The guided itinerary will offer insights into the architectural transformations of the building over the centuries.

The visit, led by Dr. Nicola Ferrario, will provide a closer look at often-overlooked details, with particular focus on the famous Roman milestone preserved in the “Hall of the Capitals” and on the archaeology of historic architecture, revealing the technical evolution of the ancient masonry.
