On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2026, the Corgeno Beach on Lake Comabbio will host a new edition of the Palio del Lago: an event that combines sport, local traditions, and a strong sense of community.

Five lakeside towns — Vergiate, Mercallo, Comabbio, Ternate, and Varano Borghi — will compete in strength, skill, and speed games such as tug of war, relay races, dexterity challenges, and traditional popular games, all in a spirit of healthy competition and fun.

But it’s not just about the competition: the weekend will be a true celebration for everyone, featuring an opening parade, the Bersaglieri Fanfar, food stands, a children’s area, live music, and community moments leading up to the final aperitif.
A perfect event for families, tourists, and locals alike, set in the natural beauty of the Varese area along the lakeside cycling path.

Program

Saturday 27 June

• 7:00 PM opening of the food stands (Canottieri di Corgeno)
• 8:15 PM official opening ceremony with the Bersaglieri Fanfar, parade, institutional greetings, and blessing of the lake
• First game: Spaccalegna
• Followed by live music and evening party with the band Hierbamala

Sunday 28 June

• 12:30 PM opening of food stands and inflatable play area
• Full day of games and challenges between the 5 towns (Relay Race, Tug of War, Luna Rotta, Musichiere, Sboccia la Boccia, Scarliga Gardon, Ul Resegun)
• Updated rankings after each event
• Late afternoon: Palio aperitif
• 9:30 PM awards ceremony, announcement of winners, and closing party with music and dancing
