Sacro Monte di Varese (Sacred Mountain of Varese) is a complex that includes Via Sacra (holy road), a cobbled devotional road that passes by fourteen chapels as it climbs the mountain. Skilfully integrated into the surrounding countryside, the Via Sacra takes to the top of the mountain at the Santa Maria del Monte Sanctuary.
A considerable cultural and artistic heritage of the finest quality: welcome to the land of Vares, where you can travel between art and culture.
There are so many monuments to visit here, from the beautiful Rocca Borromeo in Angera, that overlooks Lake Maggiore, to the ancient castels situated between the green valleys of the province.
Established in 1974, the Parco Lombardo del Ticino was the first regional park in Italy.
