Located within the Estensi Gardens, Villa Mirabello owes its name to the hill on which it stands and from which a splendid panorama of Lake Varese and the Alps can be admired.

The villa is now home to the Archaeological Museum. On display are artefacts found in the Varese and neighbouring areas. It also houses a small but important Risorgimento section.

The park includes over 100-year-old and monumental trees such as magnolias, holm oaks, lime trees and plane trees, but it is at the highest point that the famous Cedar of Lebanon appears in all its grandeur, beloved by the people of Varese and one of the symbols of the city, whose height exceeds 28 metres and the circumference of the trunk reaches almost 9 metres.
