Varese, land of experiences

Isolino Virginia

It is the oldest pile-dwelling settlement in the Alpine Arc and, since 2011, has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps.”

On the small island, visitors can also find the LIPU Nature Reserve, an important stopover for many bird species, attracting numerous visitors and offering various opportunities for exploration and learning.

The island can be reached by small boats that, at scheduled times, dock at different points around the lake, carrying curious tourists and occasional travelers, all drawn by a common destination: Lake Varese and its natural and artistic treasures.
