Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, a FAI (Italian National Trust) property in Casalzuigno, is hosting a new exhibition dedicated to the Varese Decorative Papers, a treasured craft tradition that has made the Varese area renowned around the world. The display features 105 historic sheets from the collection of antique dealer Giampaolo Pensa, donated by Carlo and Alberto Lavit, alongside a selection of modern decorative papers donated by Paolo Baj in memory of Silvana Comotti.
The exhibition traces the history of these elegant hand-decorated papers, which originated in the 18th century in Bassano del Grappa before being revived in Varese at the beginning of the 20th century, eventually becoming one of the region's most distinctive artistic traditions. Original printing blocks, books and reference materials complete the exhibition, offering visitors insight into the techniques and history behind this remarkable craft.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the exhibition is included in the admission ticket to the villa and offers a unique opportunity to discover one of the most fascinating artistic traditions of the Province of Varese.
