From June 26 to July 23, the Sacro Monte of Varese will host the 17th edition of Tra Sacro e Sacro Monte, the festival directed by Andrea Chiodi, which this year pays tribute to Saint Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death.
The programme features performances and events that blend theatre, music, and spirituality, with acclaimed artists including Alessio Boni, Marcello Prayer, Lucilla Giagnoni, Ippolita Baldini, Fausto Russo Alesi, and Ambrogio Sparagna’s Orchestra Popolare Italiana. The festival will open with Io sono il Mistero (I Am the Mystery), a site-specific performance created by the young participants of the Capolinea Sacromonte project.
Alongside the performances, the festival reaffirms its commitment to younger generations through workshops, educational programmes, and participatory activities involving local students.
Throughout the festival, shuttle services will operate from Varese city centre to the Sacro Monte village.
