A cycling journey through nature, history, and industrial heritage, following the course of the Olona River and the traces of the former Valmorea railway.
The route begins in Castellanza and unfolds through a pleasant landscape of greenery, riverside views, and old railway tracks that have been transformed into paths for slow mobility.
As you cycle through the valley, you will encounter reminders of the area’s industrial past, eventually reaching the remarkable Torba Monastery, a Lombard-era gem recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a FAI heritage property.
An itinerary that combines the joy of cycling with the charm of discovery, passing through historic villages, natural landscapes, and places where time seems to have stood still.

The route continues immersed in the greenery of the Medio Olona Park, where the river accompanies the journey through shaded paths, small streams, and natural areas rich in biodiversity. The ride then continues into the Rile Tenore Olona Park, a peaceful oasis of rural landscapes and protected environments.
The final destination is Castiglione Olona, one of the most fascinating villages in the Varese area, where historic alleyways, Renaissance palaces, and precious artistic treasures tell the story of a past filled with charm.
The return to Castellanza follows the same route, allowing you to leisurely rediscover the landscapes and places encountered along the way, for an experience combining nature, culture, and the history of the Olona Valley.
