Torba Abbey

Set deep in the countryside north of Varese by the Castelseprio Archaeological Park, the site of Torba Abbey is home to more than a millennium of history. It started out as a military outpost towards the end of the Roman Empire and later fell into the hands of the Goths and then the Longobards (with defensive walls and towers dating back to the fifth and sixth centuries). Later Torba became a peaceful place of prayer and work for Benedictine nuns which led to the church and abbey being built in the thirteenth century.

Today is a property of FAI, and hosts interesting events during the weekends. It is also possible to rent the location for events.

Extraordinary openings possible only for groups or exclusive visits.

Closed: Mondays and Tuesdays except holidays.
Last admission: one hour before closing.

Family: € 21. Allows entry with reduced rates for family groups consisting of 2 adults and 2 children. Starting from the third child, each entry is free.

Dog of all sizes allowed in leash at the park, inside the monuments are amitted only dog of small size allowed if hold in arms, in compliance with the hygiene and public safety rules*
