Ring bike path of Lake Varese

Gavirate – Biandronno – Bodio Lomnago – Azzate – Schiranna (Varese) – Calcinate – Voltorre – Gavirate

Starting from Gavirate you turn counter-clockwise to the south towards Biandronno. In the first stretch you travel in the point where it’s possible take the boat to Virginia’s island, where the remains of a prehistoric piledwelling civilization can be seen. When the trail turns towards east you find the sign of Comabbio lake. In the southern part of the lake it’s possible to stop at some shores, with refreshment points, among which Cazzago Brabbia’s shore and Bodio Lomnago’s shore. The track continues then through the woods and near the villas and farmhouses by the lake and, as you arrive to Azzate, you find the Church of Madonna del Lago. The trail goes on gently until Schiranna area, the most important of equipped parks on the lake, actually the lido of the city of Varese. Continuing on the north side of the lake you will pass Volo a Vela airport. The cloister in Voltorre is worth a visit. Shortly after Voltorre you return to the Gavirate lakeside, finshing the path.
