The Forte di Orino is one of the most popular destinations in the Parco Regionale del Campo dei Fiori thanks to its panoramic view over the entire province of Varese.

The itinerary from Pensione Irma is simple and accessible even for children, scenic and easy to follow.

The starting point is the parking area around the Pensione-Osteria Irma on Via al Belvedere in Varese. From there, you follow the signs for the fort, which immediately lead to a fork. The two paths, of equal difficulty and duration, run in parallel routes and then rejoin just before the destination.

The path on the right passes north of the Osservatorio Astronomico Schiaparelli, reaches the summit of Punta di Mezzo and its viewpoint, and rejoins the military road to Forte di Orino.

The path on the left of the fork passes south of the Schiaparelli Astronomical Observatory and is known as the Military Road of Forte di Orino, where the old military wells are located.

The two trails merge and continue on a flat section called the Military Road of Forte di Orino up to the summit.
