Cuasso al Monte is home to an itinerary where a site originally created for military purposes is transformed into a path dedicated to peace.
Within the Cinque Vette Park, the Associazione On, founded by Max Laudadio, has promoted the Line of Peace: a woodland trail of approximately 6.5 kilometres that follows a scenic section of the Northern Frontier, known as the Cadorna Line, and leads to the summit of Monte Derta.
The route begins in the square in front of the Town Hall and offers an immersive experience along the way, thanks to ten thematic information panels that accompany visitors as they gradually enter the natural landscape.
By downloading an app via QR code, hikers can access audio content that is activated at key points along the trail.
After leaving the town centre, the first installations introduce the area’s flora, fauna, history and geographical features. Upon reaching the fifth stop, which overlooks the Alps and Lake Ceresio, visitors can listen to the first podcast, in which the “Narrating Mountain” presents itself as a witness to human presence and introduces a selection of literary texts on the theme of peace, spanning from antiquity to the present day.
The path then continues through a historic trench, lit by embrasures overlooking Lake Ceresio, before re-entering the forest and reaching the panoramic viewpoint of Sasso Paradiso.
