The Ugly and Good of Gavirate: invented in 1878 by Costantino Veniani, these sweets made from almonds and hazelnuts won the hearts of Giuseppe Verdi, Giosué Carducci and also of Queen Elena of Savoy. They are perfect to enjoy with tea or sparkling wines and liqueurs.  Try them in the pastry shops of Gavirate!
