Saturday 1 October 2022, will take place in Laveno Mombello (Lake Maggiore) the competition Vertical Sass de Fer 2022 running in the mountains.

The departure is from the village of Laveno and the arrival on the summit of Sasso del Ferro.

The real race will be valid as National Championship csain (the sporting body that gives the sponsorship to the competition) of vertical trail running.

The route includes a total difference in altitude of 900 meters and winds along a path that runs under the cable car of Lake Maggiore until you reach the village of Poggio Sant'Elsa and from there to the top of the mountain. 

As per tradition, will also be awarded the Prize "Man with Wings" in memory of Oliviero Bellinzani - Valcuvian alpinist who died in 2015. 

Vertikal Sass de Fer welcomes every year at the start, many disabled athletes, it reconfirms in fact an inclusive and participatory event, despite being an extreme sports event. 

The main sponsor of the event is Vibram, the large company of Albizzate specialized in the production of soles and footwear for outdoor sports; there is no lack of support from the Municipality of Laveno Mombello, the Chamber of Commerce of Varese and the Varese Sport Commission.
