The award ceremony of the International Literary Competition "Ceresio in Giallo" will be held on Sunday 26^th May in the Salone Estense of the Palazzo Estense in Varese. The GIALLI JUNIOR prize will also be awarded to encourage young children to read.

The International Literary Competition "Ceresio in Giallo" is organized by the homonymous committee and promoted by the Pro Loco di Porto Ceresio to support writing in the Italian language, reading and, at the same time, promote the lake territories and their traditions.

The competition consists of four sections: 

• Edit novels - books published between 1^st January 2021 and 6^th October 2023;; 
• Unpublished stories - short stories set on the lakes in the mystery, noir, thriller and detective genres;
• Gialli nel cassetto - unpublished novels in the mystery, noir genre set in Italian locations;
• Giallo Junior - edited novels for children in the detective and crime genre.

This year, a new section 'The Yellow in a Sentence' has been added, in which all photographic works executed with any device can participate. The resulting sentences and not the photographs will be evaluated. The top ten photographs will be exhibited at the award ceremony for all categories of the competition. Registration for this category is open until Sunday 31^st March.

The competition jury is composed for the published novels, unpublished short stories and Gialli nel cassetto by representatives of the Accademia della Crusca, newspaper editors, journalists, editors, writers, professors, representatives of Italian and Swiss library systems, reader groups and independent booksellers. The Jury for the published section is chaired by Ambassador Silvio Mignano.
For Giallo Junior, the jury is composed of two special juries: one made up of teachers, psychologists and specialised booksellers, the other is a 'children's jury' that will award its own special prize. Both are coordinated by Francesca Maisano, a psychologist and developmental psychotherapist at the Fatebenefratelli in Milan.
