The art challenge for Planet Earth at Cairate Monastery

From 10 to 25 May 2025 the Monastery of Santa Maria Assunta in Cairate will host the exhibition "Planet Earth. The challenge of art", a free event curated by art critic Fabrizia Buzio Negri. The initiative, promoted with the sponsorship of the Municipality and the collaboration of the Pro Loco, is intended as an invitation to reflect on the environmental crisis through the artistic language.

The exhibition, animated by the works of the artists of Contemporary Arte&Ambiente APS, aims to raise public awareness on the main issues that threaten the ecosystem: from drought to floods, from melting glaciers to plastic pollution. Art thus becomes a powerful vehicle of awareness and stimulus to adopt more responsible behaviors.

The Monastery, a suggestive setting dating back to the 8th century and founded by the Lombard noblewoman Manigunda, will host the works during the weekends. The opening is scheduled on Saturday from 14.30 to 18.30 and on Sunday also in the morning, from 10.00 to 12.00.

The vernissage will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 4 pm, with a reading by the participating artists.

Among the protagonists of the exhibition: Lorella Bottegal, Pierangela Cattini, Gladys Colmenares, Marina Comerio, Irene Das Neves, Fabio Di Giacomo, Laura Fasano, Silvana Gadda, and many others. Their works explore the delicate balance between man and nature, suggesting small but significant gestures to protect the environment.

The exhibition is not only a cultural event, but also an opportunity to reiterate an urgent and universal message: the Earth is a planet to be saved, and change begins with each of us.
