Rancio Valcuvia – Cunardo

Distance: 3.3 km • Time: 1 hour • Easy

The start of trail 19/319 is not far from the medieval center of Rancio Valcuvia, near the picnic area equipped by the Campo dei Fiori Park, at the intersection of the Provincial Road n. 62 and Via Valganna. Continue north along the Via Valganna.

In Valle Ronc you can see the ruins of an ancient mill and the characteristic waterfalls.

Afterwards, you reach Masciago Primo, after a short climb to the north and, in the same direction, the S.P. n. 11, through woods and clearings.

Once in Moniscione, there is an erratic boulder called Sass della Rossera, on which there are some Celtic rock engravings. Continuing in the direction of Monte S.Martino, you can enjoy views of the Luinese and Alto Verbano. You then meet the path of the Cadorna Line, which leads to some historical artifacts of the First World War.

The trail continues north, towards Cunardo, through Mondiscia. Once you reach the S.P. n. 30 you are near the complex of karst cavities called Orrido di Cunardo (ravine of Cunardo). A little further north is the town of Cunardo.
