The PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery hosts the solo exhibition of the internationally renowned and prestigious artist CIRO PALUMBO. For the occasion, a series of 28 unpublished pictorial works will be presented together with a sculpture.

A visionary artist, characterized by a painting anchored in tradition and yet with an exquisitely contemporary breath, Palumbo brings to Varese a cycle that arises as a synthesis of his career in recent years. The myth, the sacred, the game, the tributes to Böcklin's dark suggestions, to De Chirico's Metaphysics, to Dalí's dreamlike imagery and to Magritte's surreal reality are increasingly intertwined, in this last year's work, with an evolution personal made of experiments on the pictorial gesture and on the chromatic choices. The smooth and composed painting that characterizes it has become more and more contaminated over time with the gesture, the unfinished, the pouring, in a perfect harmony between detail and expression, while the color has freed itself from the original homogeneity to light up in hues full and bright with a decidedly pop flavor.

The theme of the exhibition, that of improbable landscapes, gives Ciro Palumbo the pretext for a journey into the spaces of the mind, in what are, in reality, our inner landscapes. Here then is the silence of a white cliff, dazzling, inviolable like a repressed thought. Here is the absence told by an empty chair, an absence whose only hope of redemption is the starry window that opens in the wall behind him. Here is the passage, the transformation, guarded by fantastic animals lost in environments that open into each other like Chinese boxes. And here are the closed rooms of regret, barely lit by a small window, where memories float like lost objects: a circus tent, an island, a wandering boat. The sculpture gives us back in three dimensions one of the themes dear to the artist: the rocky island, which in this case carries some of the symbolic objects of his work such as the temple, the house and the stars.
