The Church of San Michele in Bosto will host a cultural event on Saturday, 11 May at 9 p.m., organised by the Associazione Organistica Varesina. The event, focusing on 19th century Italian organ music and the history of Varese during the Renaissance, will be conducted by organist Ismaele Gatti and history graduate Matteo Maino.
During the evening, musical compositions characteristic of the period will be performed on a restored mechanical organ, built by Eugenio Biroldi in 1819. There will also be a brief overview of Varese's cultural and social life of the time, with a special focus on the Battle of Varese on 26 May 1859.
The event, organised with the aim of promoting knowledge and appreciation of the local cultural heritage, is an opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in the artistic and historical context that contributed to the formation of Italian national identity.
