Music in Varese in 1700

The Varese Organ Association organizes on the evening of Saturday, May 17 a cultural event that will relate the organ music with the historical narrative of the city of Varese in 1700.

After the success of last year’s Renaissance event, the organist Ismaele Gatti and the historian Matteo Maino will propose an alternation of organ pieces and interventions of a historical nature that will highlight both the musical style of the XVIII and XIX European with interesting organ transcriptions of famous pieces by Mozart and Rossini, both the historical-cultural and social context of the period of the Este until the arrival of Napoleon. The event will take place in the church of San Michele a Bosto (Varese), where is located the oldest organ of Varese, built by Eugenio Biroldi in 1819.
