THE CAMELLIA DAYS 2024

The appointment with "Le Giornate delle Camelie" (Camellia Days) is on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2024 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, a FAI property in Casalzuigno (VA), with multiple specimens of camellias on display in the monumental Italian garden.

Available to the public, a wide selection of plants for purchase - from the historic Hagoromo, Okinami, Alba Maggi, General Coletti to the more recent Black Lace, Dr. Burnside and Spring Festival to the Camellia Sinensis, better known as tea plant - as well as the opportunity to admire numerous varieties from the flower farms of Lake Maggiore, the provinces of Verbania and Varese, as part of a special exhibition of cut flowers that will take place in the 18th-century rooms of the FAI Villa, where specimens are classified according to species and nomenclature.

Among them are some varieties that adorned the gardens of noble families in the 19th century as a symbol of magnificence and prestige, including the cultivar Japonica Hagoromo, Contessa Lavinia Maggi, Vergine di Collebeato, Magnoliaeflora, Alba and many others. Visitors will also be able to participate in the selection of the most beautifully shaped flower by casting their vote.

During the course of the event, it will be possible to receive advice from expert connoisseurs and there will be creative workshops for children, guided tours of the Villa, in-depth meetings on the cultivation of camellias, photo workshops.

The 'I Rustici' restaurant will be open and will offer a special menu dedicated to the event (for information and reservations daniela@schiaffi.it

Saturday 6 April

11 am - Guided tour of the Lago Maggiore Floriculture Nursery in Laveno Mombello by Michele Gallone (booking required)
2.30 pm - Demonstration of floral compositions by Marco Foghinazzi
3 p.m. - Botanical photography workshop organised by Marco Beck Peccoz (booking required)
3 p.m. - Workshop for children Camellia: botanical identikit, organised by Archeologistics. Young visitors will be accompanied to discover the rooms of the Villa, where they will be able to observe the decorations with floral details recalling the essences of the garden, narrated at the end of the visit; this will be followed by an in-depth study of the camellia plant, present in the park and to which the day is dedicated.
4.30 p.m. - Tea tasting by Marco Foghinazzi

Sunday 7 April

11 am - Meeting with collectors and enthusiasts from the world of Camellias organised by Luigi Marzotto Caotorta
