The Tre Valli is a tipically men's road cycling race, which has taken place in the province of Varese since 1919.
This year it will also dress in pink: on a path similar to male one, the Tre Valli Varesine Women's Race will also be staged. Partecipants will cross the Tre Valli that give the competition its name: Valcuvia, Valganna and Valtravaglia.
It will be an international race with different formations of the World Tour, in addition to the major Italian formations.
The race will take place on Tuesday 4th October.
The race will have two street circuits, the first in Busto (starting point) and the second in Varese with eight laps. In the last two laps it will be again the climb - not very long but rather steep - between Calcinate del Pesce, Morosolo and Casciago to act as a springboard for the winner of the Tre Valli Varesine.
THE PATH
The Tre Valli Varesine number 100 will start from Busto Arsizio: the preliminary operations will take place at the headquarters of the sponsor Eolo (thanks to the agreement between the municipal administration and the Alfredo Binda Cycling Society) from where the riders will start at 11.55 am, and then take the official start at 12.00 am in piazza Duca d'Aosta.
The first 24 kilometers (the race measures 196) will be covered in a city circuit in Busto to be repeated twice, then the caravan will take a 30 kilometer stretch that will cross Solbiate Olona, Fagnano Olona, Cairate, Castelseprio, Carnago, Caronno Varesino, Morazzone. Gazzada Schianno, Buguggiate entering Varese from the Schiranna and then going up from Bobbiate, Casbeno and passing through via Sacco for the first time.
The Varese city circuit will measure 13 kilometers and will be repeated 8 times with the climbs of Montello and Bobbiate-Casbeno: in the last two laps, however, the steepness between Calcinate and Casciago will be added to make the finish harder.
The 5th edition of the Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine race will take place on 1 and 2 October.
The organizer is the Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, chaired by Renzo Oldani.
There will be an exhibition of cimeli housed in Piazza Montegrappa da Camera di Commercio, the ideal touch to join the cycling of our great-grandparents - the first winner was Piero Bestetti in 1919, more or less heric times - with those of today and tomorrow.
