Varese’s lakes have produced many champions over the years, and the legendary eights from the IGNIS Rowing Club are a prime example of record-breaking success going back to the 1960s. Since then Varese has continued to turn out first-rate rowers and the sport keeps going from strength to strength: the lake around Schiranna enjoys fantastic weather conditions and is ideal for rowing, which is why teams arrive to train here every month from all over the world.

To enjoy Lake Maggiore and Lake Ceresio from a different perspective, surrounded only by silence and sounds of nature: sailing in our lakes is a unique experience. Few meters from the water, with the wind blowing at your back and a long time to stare at every single detail around you, in a spring sunny morning or in the light of a late autumn sunset. 

The beautiful valleys set between Alpine foothills in the northern part of the Province of Varese make the area around Lake Maggiore the perfect place for walks along relatively easy footpaths with breathtaking views.
