From 3 December 2022 to 26 March 2023 | Castello di Masnago
From 3 December 2022 to 26 March 2023 at the "Castello di Masnago" - with free admission - the exhibition "Hidden treasures works of art returned to the communities of Varesotto" can be visited.
Hidden Treasures collects in the rooms of the Masnago Castle works from the area restored thanks to the contribution of the Varesotto Community Foundation and proposed in this exhibition, in synergy with the Municipality of Varese. These are objects that offer the opportunity to immerse yourself in a path made up of heterogeneous techniques and metrics, but above all of local devotion and traditions: paintings, sculptures, banners, reliquaries, crucifixes and even some paleontological finds make the path heterogeneous and full of suggestions.
The staging proposes a journey through the Varese area: from Besano to Saronno, passing through Varese, Golasecca, Gallarate, Azzate, Castello Cabiaglio, Cassano Magnago, Venegono and Gorla Minore. The itinerary is made rich by more well-known paintings - such as the Gaudenzio Ferrari kept in Saronno and two oil paintings on wood attributed to the painter Callisto Piazza kept in Azzate - but also by lesser-known works and yet capable of arousing interest and revealing the mastery of the execution, as in the case of the banner of the basilica of Gallarate.
