In Varese, a G6 against the Mafia

A G6 meeting, an international summit involving Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland, is going to take place at the end of May, in Varese; the United States’ Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, will also be present.

This is what Roberto Maroni, the Italian Home Secretary, announced during an interview published in the Italian newspaper “Il Sole24ore” on Tuesday, 2nd March.

Mr Maroni explained, “I’m thinking of exporting our counteroffensive approach to the Mafia to other countries. During the summit, I want to explain to the countries taking part how important it is for everybody to extend the anti-Mafia legislation abroad, including the seizure of property and strict prison conditions for Mafiosi.”

The European G6 (Group of six) is an informal group of the home secretaries of the six most important European countries.
