Varese, land of experiences

Minor lakes

Beside the best known lakes, like Lake Maggiore and Lake Varese, not many people know that the land of Varese hides other smaller lakes, immersed into valleys and surrounded by the woods. For those who love  relaxing by the lake reading a good book or those who appreciate moutains and alpine lakes, here are the small lakes in the Varese province that you need to discover and visit.

Lago di Ghirla: surrounded only by nature, Lake Ghirla has glacial origins, and is situated in the northern area of Valganna. Perfect to refresh from the hot summer days or to take nice reflection pictures, Lake Ghirla is a must see of our territory. The coast is unspoilt, excluding the bathing establishment which offers kayak renting.

Lago e Torbiera di Ganna: situated in Valganna, with a maximum depth of 3 mt and a huge biodiversity, the small lake Ganna is part of a Natural Reserve. With the Torbiera, which is situated nearby, during winter it becomes an ice rink, visited by ice-skaters who love its peacefull atmosphere.

Lago Delio: hidden in the Varese Preapls, Lake Delio, at the foot of Monte Borgna, can be reached through a panoramic road which starts from Maccagno and goes up to 930 mt. Lake Delio has natural origins and its appearance has changed after the built of two lateral dams. From here you have the perfect view of Lake Maggiore and the valleys.
