Varese Liberty Tour 2016
The Art & Culture City Tour. Duration: about 2 ½ hours. Italian/English speaking tour guide.
Wandering around the streets of Varese it is often easy to imagine the atmosphere of the city in bygone times. Now you can relive some of that atmosphere with the first European sightseeing tour dedicated to Art Nouveau, the Varese Liberty Tour. Art Nouveau became known as Stile Liberty (Liberty style) in Italy after London’s famous Liberty department store. The eight stops on the tour are an absolute must while staying in Varese, especially as you can see them all in about two and a half hours with a luxury coach. The tour visits the Palazzo Estense Gardens, Villa Recalcati, the Palace Grand Hotel, Piazza Montegrappa, the Sacro Monte funicular railway, the Poretti Brewery and Villa Panza. In addition to viewing fabulous places and spectacular design, the Liberty Tour offers visitors an opportunity to “sample” Art Nouveau as the eateries in Varese have also created delicious Art Nouveau inspired delicacies in a typically Italian fashion, such as the Liberty pizza made by Pizzeria Piedigrotta, and the Liberty gelato at the Buosi ice-cream parlour.
The Liberty Tour, an all-inclusive Art Nouveau experience!
